Recorded presentation of Connected and Protected: Navigating the Digital Age

Thanks to all those who joined us at our October 20 Connected Conversations - Connected and Protected: Navigating the Digital Age with international author and speaker Katherine Martinko.

The Snohomish School District, in partnership with the Snohomish Education Foundation, launched Connected Conversations - a new series of community meetings focused on family engagement and student well-being.

Guests joined author and speaker Katherine Martinko for an engaging, research-based conversation about the impact of screen time on youth mental health, behavior, and learning. Martinko, author of Childhood Unplugged: Practical Advice to Get Kids Off Screens and Find Balance (2023) and collaborator with The Anxious Generation (Jonathan Haidt 2024), shared actionable strategies to help families create healthier, more focused learning environments.

Topics included:

  • Setting tech boundaries and solutions
  • Practicing digital minimalism
  • Parent/guardian modeling
  • Treating devices as tools, not toys
